Industrial EICR Testing in Bristol

Periodic inspection and testing for factories, warehouses, and industrial premises. Three-phase expertise, BS 7671 compliance, and flexible scheduling to minimise operational disruption.

Industrial Electrical Inspection & Testing in Bristol

An industrial EICR is a comprehensive periodic inspection and test of the fixed electrical installation in your factory, warehouse, or industrial unit. It covers the entire installation — from the incoming three-phase supply, main switchgear, and distribution boards through to sub-distribution, motor circuits, fixed machinery connections, lighting, emergency systems, and all final circuits. The report identifies defects, deterioration, damage, and non-compliance with the current edition of BS 7671, the UK Wiring Regulations.

Industrial electrical installations are subject to far greater demands than domestic or commercial systems. Heavy machinery, high-current three-phase supplies, variable speed drives, power factor correction equipment, and harsh environmental conditions — including dust, moisture, vibration, and temperature extremes — all contribute to accelerated wear on cables, connections, and protective devices. Periodic inspection is essential to detect deterioration before it leads to equipment failure, unplanned downtime, fire, or injury.

Under the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, employers and duty holders have a legal obligation to ensure that electrical systems in the workplace are maintained in a safe condition. An EICR is the accepted method of demonstrating compliance with this requirement. The Health and Safety Executive expects industrial premises to have a current periodic inspection report, and most commercial insurers require a valid EICR as a condition of cover. Failure to maintain compliant records can result in enforcement action, fines, increased insurance premiums, and personal liability for directors and duty holders.

MB Electrical holds NICEIC Approved Contractor status — the highest tier of NICEIC accreditation. This requires regular assessment of competence across domestic, commercial, and industrial electrical work, ensuring that every inspection and test we carry out meets the highest professional standards.

Motor Circuits

Testing of motor starter circuits, star-delta arrangements, variable speed drives, isolators, and overload protection devices.

Emergency Lighting

Inspection of emergency lighting circuits, battery backup systems, and maintained and non-maintained luminaires throughout the premises.

Earthing & Bonding

Our Industrial EICR Process

1

Pre-Inspection Survey

We visit your site to assess the scope of the installation, review existing documentation, identify the number of distribution boards and circuits, and agree a phased testing schedule that works around your production timetable.

2

Visual Inspection

We carry out a detailed visual inspection of switchgear, distribution boards, containment, cable routes, earthing and bonding arrangements, isolators, and a representative sample of accessories and fixed equipment connections throughout the premises.

3

Instrument Testing

Every circuit is tested using calibrated instruments to verify insulation resistance, earth fault loop impedance, RCD operation, prospective fault current, and polarity. Three-phase circuits are tested across all phases with results recorded against the appropriate schedules.

4

Report & Classification

You receive a comprehensive EICR with all observations classified using the standard coding system. We explain the findings in plain language, prioritise any remedial work, and provide a clear quotation for rectifying defects.

5

Remedial Work & Re-Test

If C1 or C2 defects are identified, we schedule remedial work efficiently to restore your installation to a satisfactory condition. Affected circuits are re-tested and an updated satisfactory report is issued upon completion.

Pricing Tailored to Your Project

Industrial EICR costs depend on the size of your premises, the number of distribution boards, and the total circuit count. We provide free, no-obligation quotes with transparent pricing and volume discounts for multi-site programmes.
